Visiting Us?

If you're visiting us there's just a few things you'll need to know before you come.

We are open from 8:30am and close at 11:30pm Monday to Friday. During these hours you’ll be able to sample some tasty dishes. Enjoy a three-course meal in our impressive dining room featuring seasonal dishes prepared by our wonderful Head Chef, or if you prefer something a little more relaxed, check out our bar menu with tasty lighter dishes which can be eaten in the comfort of the Bar, Smoking Room or Terrace. Lunch is served from 12:30pm to 2:30pm and dinner is served between 6:00pm and 9:30pm.

Dress Advice

Like all private members clubs we have a bit of a dress code to ensure we retain the ambience and traditions of our surroundings, though in true Liberal fashion we have tried to make these as light as possible!

We take a ‘Dress Advice’ approach, which gives members and visitors alike a guide on what is ideal, what passes and what is a definite no no. These NLC Dress Advice Style Guides give an overview of what to consider in your attire when visiting the Club.

Club Rules

Similarly, we have some standard Club rules designed to make sure everyone enjoys their time with us. Here are the most important Club rules you’ll need to know.

  • Bags and Coats – We ask Members and their guests not take outdoor clothing, bags and cases (other than small document cases and handbags) into the Club rooms. Coats may be left in the cloakroom on the ground floor while bags and cases may be left at the reception desk.

  • Taking photos – While we are more than happy for you to take photographs, these should be discreet and in a location where they will not disturb anyone else. Please do not include other Members or guests in any photographs without their consent.

  • Access for children – Children under the age of 14 are not allowed into the Clubhouse without express permission. During August, you are allowed to bring children between the ages of 8 and 14 into the Clubhouse and do not need permission.

Visiting us from a Reciprocal Club?

If you’re visiting us from a Reciprocal Club you will simply need to show your membership card and your letter of introduction to our front of house team when you arrive. They’ll be more than happy to assist in showing you where our various rooms are so you can enjoy the Clubhouse to its fullest. Please be advised that the number of visits may be limited based on the agreed reciprocity arrangements.

We look forward to welcoming you to The National Liberal Club, and hope you have a wonderfully relaxing visit!

Transport Links

The NLC is in a perfect location within easy reach of Whitehall, the West End, the City and theatreland. By public transport, the NLC is a 10 minute walk from Charing Cross Station, a 5 minute walk from Embankment Tube (with access to the Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern line), or, if you’re feeling really adventurous, why not take the Thames Clipper!

We hope everything is clear, but don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

We look forward to welcoming you to the National Liberal Club and hope you enjoy your visit to our historic Clubhouse.
