Saamir Mahmud

Born in Karachi, I have lived in Pakistan, the USA and now the UK. I read Law at Oxford and Oriental Studies at Cambridge. Based in Bloomsbury, I am a barrister specialising in domestic violence, family law, asylum and immigration.

At the Club, I chair the Bridge Circle and, as well as running fortnightly bridge, we will be starting regular open competitive Bridge sessions. I now sit on the Marketing and Communications Committee and the Beer, Wine and Spirits Committee, as well as both the Reciprocal Clubs and Diversity Working Groups.

I am proud of my Pakistani heritage and have facilitated a meeting between our Club Chair and the Pakistan High Commissioner. Watch this space for further developments… I am a keen theatregoer, and like to think of myself as an approachable and eternal ’glass half full’ Sagittarian. (Saamir joined the Club in 2018 and was elected to Gen Cttee in 2021).
