Peter Cargin

I worked at the British Film Institute for 24 years as Editor of its magazine, Film. As a member of the International Film Press Critics – FIPRESCI – founded in 1933, I attended more than 30 film festivals around the world, often as a jury member, and have given a talk at the Club on ‘My Life at Film Festivals’.

A trustee and Treasurer of The Critics’ Circle (founded 1913), I am a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, BAFTA, and of the Arts Club.

The first Club committee I joined was General Purposes, then the Membership Committee – where I went on to serve as Chair until 2021. I have been a member of the Liberals/ LibDems since 1988. Apart from film, music is my other love. (Peter joined Club in 1987 and was elected to Gen Cttee in 2012)
