Since joining the NLC, I have enjoyed its convivial atmosphere and wide range of interesting Clubs and Circles. I chair the Diversity Working Group and am a member of the Commonwealth Forum, which has allowed me to work collaboratively with the Defence and Security Circle, among others.
An international speaker on education issues, I have also debated in the House of Lords on ‘The challenges for international relations in the 21st Century’. A researcher, author and book editor, my work has also included mentoring students at secondary schools in oral presentations, and I’m a judge for the English-Speaking Union’s Churchill Public Speaking – the largest public speaking competition for schools in England and Wales. I am also a school governor. (Elizabeth joined the Club in 2017 and was elected to what is now the Members’ Council in 2018 )
