IWW Launch – with 50:50 founder Frances Scott invited by the Sustainability Forum

6:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) describe gender equality and women’s empowerment as “integral to each of the 17 goals. Only by ensuring the rights of women and girls across all the goals will we get to justice and inclusion, economies that work for all, and sustaining our shared environment now and for future generations.”

50:50 was started in 2013 and then launched the #AskHerToStand campaign in November 2016. Since then the campaign has gone from strength to strength. In the 2019 UK general election fifty of the women standing were part of 50:50 and nine went on to win seats in the Commons. 50:50 work with all the political parties to empower women into politics, helping them get selected and elected. The aim is to help an additional 105 women get elected to Westminster by 2030. Within ten years 50:50 hope that women will have equal seats and equal say in the Commons.

We therefore have invited the wonderful Frances Scott to open the IWW launch, and talk about how she founded 50:50, and lead us into the drinks welcome reception.
